Commercial Change of use to Residential with Extension & Renovation Hillsborough

The Brief:

To renovate and refurbish an existing brown facing brick single-storey storage building and transform it into a family home. Planning permission for a change of use status to a dwelling was required, as well as complete refurbishment, remodelling, and extension to create a new home.

The Solution:

The existing dwelling was entirely remodelled internally and externally, including the addition of a new stair to first-floor accommodation, relocation of entrance arrival areas, and new sleeping accommodation within the roof void. A new extension was also added, providing an opportunity to maintain separate living areas and a new open-plan living kitchen dining area with external spaces linked to maximise the excellent views across the surrounding countryside. 3D modelling of the proposed restoration and extended dwelling demonstrated an appropriate visual aesthetic for the house, which sits comfortably in the surrounding countryside and met the planning requirements for countryside development.
